Step 1 – Planning for you
Our experienced customer advisers will visit you on request and provide comprehensive advice on all the options available when moving to the USA. Planning your move involves organising and, above all, efficiently determining all transport routes to the USA. We prepare all export documentation and take care of the necessary customs formalities on your behalf. We round off this completely secure process with our transport insurance. All your household effects remain insured throughout the entire move to America.
Step 2 – Collection with the packing service
The practical part of your move begins with the collection of your belongings from your current home. We’ll provide you with active support there. Are you moving with furniture or electrical appliances? Our removal experts will dismantle your furniture and unplug your appliances properly and professionally.
The service includes all packing work to ensure your belongings are perfectly prepared for the move to the USA. Our packing specialists are experts when it comes to overseas removals. They ensure even the most delicate items are packed using the perfect specialised packaging. Regular training ensures our staff are highly qualified and delivers the best results for safe transport. Even the most valuable and particularly fragile items, such as works of art, arrive in America in perfect condition, retaining their full value.
Step 3 – Transport to the port
Once all items have been carefully and properly packed, we will transport your belongings safely to the port of departure. DMS’s modern lorries ensure that your belongings are transported with care. For example, the transport vehicles are fitted with air suspension to absorb shocks.
Step 4 – Shipping as a consolidated load
The removal goods are shipped as consolidated cargo in a specially hired shipping container. This consolidation makes moving to America with DMS cost-effective. Why? Because the removal goods of several people moving to the USA are consolidated into a single sea container – costs are efficiently shared. Removal boxes and furniture are stored in a dry and secure manner as consolidated cargo within the freight container and are shipped overseas. Every month, we load the consolidated containers with removal goods and handle many removals to the USA cost-effectively in this way. We monitor the safe transit of the goods using precise records and checks.
Step 5 – Takeover by a partner
Once your goods have arrived at the port of destination and all the formalities have been completed, our US partners will transport your removal goods swiftly and carefully to your chosen destination. You need not worry about any communication gaps during this phase either – we at DMS remain your expert point of contact and will coordinate your US move transparently and reliably for you right through to the end. Our partners are exclusively vetted and qualified removal companies who consistently prove themselves worthy of our trust. They take care of every step in America that is part of providing a high-quality service.
Step 6 – Delivery to the living room
The move ends in your home. Our US partners will bring all your belongings inside and place them exactly where you want them. The door-to-door service for your move to the USA begins at your old home and ends in your new home.
Option: Storage for any period of time
If you initially wish to move to the USA with only part of your household effects, or for a limited period, we offer a storage service. We store your belongings properly and carefully in DMS’s nationwide warehouses – in a dry environment, protected from the elements and temperature fluctuations. You decide how long we should store your belongings. Naturally, your goods will always remain accessible, so that you can retrieve them quickly should you need to. We can also forward stored goods to the USA on request – to any location.
Option: Fitting & Installation
Our door-to-door service naturally includes carrying your belongings into your new home. Would you like even more assistance? We’d be happy to help, as our US partners can offer you a full-service removal package if required. For example, they’ll ensure that your furniture is assembled correctly and that your electronic appliances are installed. Only trained staff carry out this work, ensuring a high-quality result. This ensures that you’ll quickly feel at home in your new place after moving to the USA.
